Swiss airports and the Swiss Museum of Transport are to jointly organise a road show about the fascination of airports. The exhibition will tour at medium-sized and major shopping centres throughout the country from the beginning of 2008. Zurich, Geneva, Bern, Basel, Lugano and Altenrhein airports – which together form the Swiss International Airports Association (SIAA) – will be participating in this project. One of the highlights of the show will be a model of a “super airport” comprising all six airports on a scale of 1:1000 and covering an area of approximately 15 square metres. This “Aéroport de Suisse” will take the form of a mechanical model complete with lights, sounds and moving aircraft and vehicles, and even revolving radar antennas. The individual airports will be presenting fascinating stories about themselves in three different languages. Special audio and visual installations will be available so that visitors can experience the daily life of an airport for themselves. The model will be equipped with buttons that visitors can press to initiate a variety of actions, and it will contain countless details that will keep everyone well and truly engrossed. The exhibition is designed to draw attention to the fascination of airports and be a positive experience that visitors will long remember.
